چکیده: مفسّران آثار افلاطون تفسیر واحدی از نگرش وی دربارۀ زنان به دست نداده‌اند؛ زیرا در بررسی آثار افلاطون با قطعاتی ناسازگار، پیچیده و پراکنده در این باره روبه‌رو شده‌اند. از یک سو، افلاطون برای زنان حقوق اجتماعی محدودی قائل بود و آنان را موجوداتی ناتوان و حقیر می‌دانست. از سوی دیگر، او در چینش آرمانشهر خود برای رسیدن به عدالت، نقش‌های اجتماعی مهمّی برای زنان همچون مردان قائل بود و نیز آنان را از حیث استعداد و طبیعت با مردان یکی می‌دانست. آنچه در این میان اهمّیّت دارد و ما در این مقاله در جست‌وجوی آنیم، انگیزه و هدف افلاطون از پرداختن به این موضوع است؛ خاصّه اینکه ما رویکردی وحدت‌گروانه در اخلاق‌شناسی و سیاست‌شناسی افلاطونی را شاهدیم که مبتنی بر آرای مابعدالطّبیعی اوست. به این ترتیب، در این مقاله، از چشم‌اندازی تاریخی‌ـ‌اجتماعی به دوره یونان باستان، نظرگاه‌های فلسفی افلاطون دربارۀ زنان و تفسیرهای متفاوتی را که در روزگار ما از آنها شده است، بررسی می‌کنیم. در پایان، به این نتیجه می‌رسیم که افلاطون سعادت جامعه را در عدالتی می‌دید که در همه انسانها، بدون در نظر گرفتن جنسیّت و توانایی آنان، صورت واحدی دارد؛ و، ازاین‌رو، دغدغه او بالا بردن حقوق اجتماعی زنان نبوده است.

Justice and Gender in Plato’s Utopia: a review of Plato’s view on women

Abstract: Plato’s commentators have had different interpretations of his view on women; because they have faced with the inconsistent, complexed and fragmented pieces in dealing with Plato’s works on the issue. On the one hand, Plato held a few social rights for women and marginalized them. On the other hand, when elaborating his utopia, he accorded important social roles to women and, therefore, considered them equal to men, in terms of nature and talent. What we seek in this paper, is to understand Plato’s motive and purpose for discussing on the issue, especially because he has adopted a monistic view in his ethics and politics, which is dependent on his metaphysical views. Thus, we will try to examine Plato’s philosophical views of women and their different interpretations till our times, with a look at the socio-historical world of ancient Greece. Finally, we conclude that Plato has regarded the happiness of society as a justice which has the one form in all human beings, without considering their gender and their abilities. Therefore, his concern has not been increasing the women’s rights.
